CHARTERS TO REMEMBER: SPIRIT IN THE SKY

30 March 2016

In 2007 our customer had sourced the specialist sightseeing boat, the ‘Spirit of Skye’, in order to take a VIP on a tour of a new copper mine that was on a very shallow lake.

We were tasked with finding the correct charter solution to transport the vessel to Kazakhstan, where the mine was located.

Justin Lancaster, ACS’s Commercial Director, explains more: “We received a call asking to fly the tour boat the ‘Spirit of Skye’, otherwise known as the ‘Loch Ness Express’, from Scotland to Kazakhstan. The ideal aircraft for the job was the, now retired, Antonov 22, which flew the boat into Zhezkazgan from Scotland.

“The charter took months of planning and, as can be seen from the photo, it was quite a tight fit.”
