Leading aircraft charter specialist, Air Charter Service, has seen changing requirements from customers – both freight forwarders and shippers – and has adapted a suite of products towards other premium freight solutions, not just charters, that the company is able to offer through its global network.
Dan Morgan-Evans, Group Cargo Director, explains: “When clients first approach us it is not always automatically clear what the best option for transportation is, with the range of different solutions that we offer, but we have the correct set-up to always find the fastest and most cost-effective answer for every request, whether that is a charter, onboard courier (OBC), unaccompanied next flight out (NFO) or even trucking.
“We’re now dealing with all logistical problems that require a high level of human involvement and can’t be solved by regular freight options. There are many more premium air cargo solutions than just our regular charter business – outsize cargo, dangerous goods, onboard couriers and next flight outs are all premium offerings, and often a better fit for clients with more urgent or smaller quantities of cargo that don’t require a full aircraft charter.
“At ACS we have a niche skillset and infrastructure, set up for low-volume, high-complexity cargo business. On top of the more than 120 cargo brokers based in the 37 ACS offices around the world, who are all able to arrange charters as and when requested, we have specialists around the world that focus on humanitarian flights, outsize cargo, dangerous goods, OBCs, NFOs, or any combination of these niche forms of air cargo transportation, as well as a truck division in the US.
“Many of our freight forwarder customers don’t require such specialist solutions often enough to have a specialist department, and to gain the experience that we have; but we are able to provide a comprehensive suite of services for when time is critical in order to support these customers when they need it most.”
