50 Years of the United Arab Emirates - luxury stays in the UAE

December 2021 marks 50 years since the birth of the United Arab Emirates. Now an international hub of activity and a popular travel destination, to celebrate the UAE’s Golden Jubilee we’ve put together some of the most luxurious hotels in the region to inspire your next booking with us.

Atlantis the Palm, Dubai

Looking for a luxury hotel in Dubai or Abu Dhabi? You don’t have to look too hard in this region, with a multitude of 5-star hotels ready to pamper guests with lavish interiors, first-class service and delicious cuisine.

Exclusively located on the tip of Palm Island and boasting spectacular views of Dubai’s glittering skyline and the Arabian Gulf, Atlantis The Palm is one of the world’s most iconic hotels.

With nearly 30 restaurants to choose from, you’ll never get bored of the food here. From Hakkasan’s Michelin-starred Asian dishes to relaxed gastro-pub fare at Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen, you’re effortlessly catered for. Guests can even enjoy free access to the world’s largest waterpark and an underground aquarium showcasing 65,000 exotic marine animals.

Burj Al Arab, Dubai

The only 7-star hotel in the world, the Burj Al Arab is the flagship for luxurious hotels. Reminiscent of a sailboat out on its own on the Dubai shoreline, guests can arrive at the doors via a Rolls Royce Phantom or a private helicopter.

Overseen by Michelin-starred-chefs, nine restaurants offer gourmet cuisine amid opulent surrounds - but it’s the suites that truly represent the epitome of luxury. All of the hotel’s 202 duplex rooms are ultra-decadent, from their richly coloured décor to fabulous amenities like 24-hour butler service, 21-inch iMacs, 24-carat gold “virtual concierge” iPads and remote controlled curtains, TVs, music and lights. All have spacious living areas, with grand staircases leading up to first-floor bedrooms and Hermès-stocked bathrooms featuring whirlpool tubs, walk-in showers and gold-plated taps. Guests can even upgrade their suite to include a Jacuzzi, kitchen and 180-degree floor-to-ceiling views over the Arabian Gulf.

Grand Cosmopolitan Hotel, Dubai

Perfectly located close to some of Dubai’s biggest attractions, the Grand Cosmopolitan Hotel is a chic urban resort perfect for a luxury weekend stay in Dubai.

Guests can enjoy a fabulous rooftop pool and indulgent spa during the day and a choice of three inviting restaurants in the evening. When it’s time to rest, the two-bedroom Grand Suite is the most decadent of its accommodations. Including dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows and generous workspaces for corporate guests, this opulent suite comes with its own living room, dining area and freestanding bath.

Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai

A five-star destination within a destination, one of the Emirate’s largest resorts lies in Dubai. Designed in the style of a traditional Arabian town, this larger-than-life mega-resort comprises three boutique luxury hotels (royal palace-style Jumeirah Al Qasr and beachfront retreats Jumeirah Mina A'Salam and Jumeirah Al Naseem), a courtyard collection of summerhouses and endless amenities and attractions, all linked together by five kilometres of man-made waterways serviced by abra boats.

There’s a host of luxurious rooms to choose from. Traditionalists will love Mina A'Salam’s sumptuous suites with sea-view balconies and Al Qasr’s antique furnishings and marble bathrooms, while Al Naseem’s sleek design appeals to those seeking a more contemporary vibe. Perfect for larger groups and families, Dar Al Masyaf’s charming summer houses sit amongst peaceful waterways and offer private courtyards and personalised butler service.

Qasr Al Sarab, Abu Dhabi

One of the most instagrammed hotels in the world, the Qasr Al Sarab is a 19,000-acre resort set in the rolling dunes of Abu Dhabi’s vast Empty Quarter. A truly immersive Arabian luxury experience, guests are treated with impeccable service, opulent accommodation and sumptuous cuisine.

Explore the resort’s gorgeous surrounds with a host of exhilarating immersive experiences including dune-bashing, camel treks and guided night walks through the desert. Or revel in an Arabian spa treatment at the pampering Anantara Spa. In the evening, guests have a brilliant choice of restaurants to choose from, including a seasonal Bedouin-style dining on cushions under the stars.

As well as a range of gorgeously appointed suites, the Qasr Al Sarab also offers three-bedroom pool villas that sit at the desert’s edge and include butler service, indoor-outdoor living areas and private plunge pools.
